Life isn't fair. Most of us have had plenty of fairness though. And we really don't have much to complain about. Be real. Cry about something worth crying about. For example, the ongoing corrosion of representative-democracy. Or the half-million homeless in USA.
Right, there is no teeth in the law. So it will be flouted. It's getting flouted today; I checked. Insert Rodney Dangerfield joke.
Soon, due to flouting by selfish people making obvious nonessential trips out of their own communities (Hood River, Portland, Seattle, beyond), Rock Creek will be overrun. Again. And it will close. To everybody. Including 97040.
Thanks. |

Biffmalibu, aren't you the Flouter in Chief here? You felt it was your duty to announce this "Decree" and then proceed to tell everyone that you are one of the few chosen Mosier locals that is allowed to violate a State Park closure. You could have kept your mouth shut and continued to enjoy your access, but you didn't. You posted on at least two forums and knew it would generate a lot of spirited discussion amongst a crowd that is desperate to get on the water. What's that about? |

No offense, but if Rock Creek was the only option for windsurfing. I'd pass. If it ain't rollin' like the Wall, what's the point? Have fun with with the chop. |

When the locals want to get ugly and possessive, who knows what kind of craziness can happen. I would have never thought that windsurfing could come to this. We used to be such a friendly and welcoming sport.
How quickly things can change. |

The best argument I've heard for staying home is that the image of a rider in the river goes against the collective spirit of cooperation to stay inside for the greater good of public health.
If one mayor in a city of 430 decides on quirky enforcement to the benefit of the few locals that use the beach, so be it, but I'm not sure that ought to be celebrated in this wind forum we all share.
It's hard enough to stay out of the water as it is, I don't need the image of Mr. Ninja here flaunting his kung-fu skills to test my conviction of what is right or wrong public health-wise. So thanks but no thanks for the info. I was happier thinking it was just a bunch of idiots defying the order than an idiot mayor making it possible.

Save your time and fuel. Maybe save some lives too.
Rock Creek/Mosier is now for locals only (those living in the 97040 area code), by decree of the City of Mosier.
This is due to being overrun recently (4/21; Westender predicted this; there were about 15 vehicles parked outside the gate today.), no masks, and no 6' spacing (obviously; check the "selfie" photo in Dwarn's post below. Yep, that is me.). I thought Westender had a good idea to wear a mask on the beach. It sucked for about 10 minutes; I sweat a lot under a mask.
This locals only decree is a good thing; it's a very small beach, with traffic bottlenecks, and nonresident visitors obviously (check "selfie") do not care enough to modify behavior via masks and spacing. As the weather warms, it's only going to get more crowded.
There are old people and others who are at high risk for infection who live in Mosier. Respect the mayor, council, and residents of Mosier. Rock Creek is now locals only; you have to live in 97040 to utilize Rock Creek. Until further notice. |

Are you late to the party Doc? LOL. How the waters can muddy. Gwarn is the one who juiced up the original photo and I've heard he leaves his house often . I saw that pathetic care home brawl video before. Pretty sad. Be well everyone!

Holy Cinderella Batman,
Having felt like the Lone Ranger for a few weeks , it’s certainly refreshing to read some support.

Update:
When I wrote: | The threat is many times higher indoors, especially if fresh air circulation is limited. The solution to pollution is dilution, and sunlight (not uv lamps) further boosts it. That's what my research indicates | , that was the "experts'" party line. In just one short week, they've changed their tune to some degree or another. There's now a commercial uv-spewing CV-killer machine that supposedly sanitizes a bedroom in just 5 minutes. It costs "only" $100,000 (or was it $150,000?). Whether its emanations kill CV bugs better than a simple uv bulb from Home Depot I don't know. |
