Hi Gang,

If you saw last nights and today's forecast you know we are in for epic winds today as a marine surge southerly winds battles strong NW winds.

This morning the southerly marine surge winds win out but this afternoon powerful wind from the North Pacific High winds win decisively as they curve into the Bay.

However, the marine surge does send a bit of WSW wind that plagues 3rd. Ave. inside and jazzes up the north tower to Point Blunt to Pt. Isabel to Sherman Island winds even more.

The first graphic below shows the sawtooth battle line at 9 AM last night.

The second satellite animation shows a the arrival of the marine surge near Monterey 5 PM and the beginning of its battle with the NW wind.

You could feel that battle raging on the inside at Crissy yesterday afternoon. Hopefully more filled in today. Actually ready 27 already at Anita Rock.

Hi Gang,

The imagery below shows how the battle is playing out today at 3:40 PM. Notice the Sherman Island and Treasure Island winds averaging
over 30 and even Berkeley at 27.

Also check out the winds just aloft at the Bodega profiler averaging 40 knots.

As forecast, there were still some SW marine surge winds at play here which messed up the winds inside at 3rd.

One of the windiest day I've ever sailed at Crissy. Gusty and shifty as hell though.

Crazy wind at Sherman today. 3-5 it was all over the place then it straightened out and blew as hard as Iíve ever seen it there. It was awesome!

The Golden Gate Bridge has new railings on its west side (bike path).
Wind like yesterday apparently makes the new railing howl like when you're blowing at the top of a bottle:

On the water I didn't notice, 15-30 conditions kept things interesting, but apparently you could hear it throughout the Presidio and beyond.

On a side note. For the time they weren't finished yet, I really liked how the gray primer on the posts contrasted with the ubiquitous Bridge red.
