So, despite the fact that 1,500,000 military members were wounded or killed in battle fighting for your right to be an ass, you are anti-military? Do you simply feel it was their duty to be maimed and killed so you are free to be an ass, so they shouldn't get paid for it? Or are you simply one of the so-called "people" whose response when you learn of someone's contribution to your country is "Fuck you for your service"?

You were going to come back with your tired old defense that I was never in combat, thus deserve no pay for my service. You've beaten this horse to death before, so you know that:

• For every service member injured or killed in battle, scores supported their missions in non-combat roles.

• Every ambulatory serviceman is subject to immediate reassignment to combat. (I added the Expert Small Arms Marksmanship ribbon to my three rows of ribbons on the firing range, not in a laboratory.)

• I even asked, in person, one-on-one, face-to-face, THE Washington, DC Veterans Affairs Director of Military Benefits whether I should voluntarily waive my benefits so those injured in combat could have greater access to them. Her answer is best summarized as an emphatic "Of course not. Without support (i.e., non-combat) personnel, our combat capability would be of no use."

I've contributed significantly to our combat readiness in many weapons systems used in many roles in three major wars (and my wife has done MUCH more than I in that regard). I've earned hazardous duty compensation for flying in combat aircraft testing some of "my" weapons systems. I directed one BrickBat One (highest national priority by order of the POTUS) program and was involved in another. Some of the technologies I was heavily involved in are still in use today in both military and civilian applications (ever hear of AI? Remote sensing? Fighter aircraft simulators, navigation, and combat fire control systems? Cruise missiles? The Minuteman ICBM? Combat aircraft IFF systems? Directed energy weapons?) I helped put man on the moon before joining the military.

Now tell us, Steve ... What have YOU done for your country? (Even if you can come up with a couple of contributions, why do you hate our military so damned much?)

Your fat paycheck as a government contractor involved no obligations at all to your country. You got all the benefits, including your retirement pay that's big enough to fund your first home, without risking a hangnail or actually doing much of anything to keep our nation safe.

You've just demonstrated -- again -- that you're not only a world class, hypocritical ingrate but also the ass whose rights we protect, Steve.

Now go out and shoot your neighbor's dog for being a dog -- i.e., barking -- like you advocated in your op-ed letter published in the L.A. Times.

as a real engineer that got a real degree (was yours from trump U) or maybe the matchbox.... and I was a VP of engineering in the real world where products work and completed on budget and in time, there is no way I would have you do anything but peel potatoes. You are a friggen idiot. If anything you were involved in you f-ed it up so severely that it ended up costing taxpayers 10 times more than if you would have just resigned.

Every generation of my family volunteered for the US military, And I can tell you, my father with his three degrees including PhD in Physics who left the military to work at a national lab also had a similar distaste for the military incompetence as well as my brother who was just a grunt also later masters in engineering.

As far as your wife, well have no clue about her or her abilities.

Boy, did I hit a nerve, and it was so easy.

Did I deride or put down any folks in the military? No, not at all. You simply manufactured that out of thin air. Why do you do that? What's wrong with you?

You like to throw on this unstained cloak pretending to be a noble and virtuous American that gave their life for their country, and thereby think you can rise above the normal citizenry of this country. In truth, you worked a regular job here in the US with the government being your employer. You didn't live in harms way fighting to defend the nation. So you can forget all the noble defender BS, because we don't buy it. I think that you need to come down to earth and show some respect for regular folks who work hard and pay their taxes.

Lastly, it's unseemly how you think that you can ridicule and write off someone like me as a loser who has done nothing for their country. Yet, you know so very little about me because I don't spend my time bragging about it here. You might want to reflect a bit and show some humility. When you can do that, we might begin to show you some respect.

Precisely put, S.W.C.

Haven't we endlessly read on the windsurfing branch of the forum how he has dedicated his life, his work, where he lives, etc, solely to be able to follow his fanatical zeal for windsurfing the Gorge, morning till night, letting nothing else stand in the way of HIS life?

Not to forget, of course, his other achievements, of desert racing high speed motor-cycles, winter snow mobiles, and several other me, me, me, personal excesses, in between sacrificing his life to protecting you ungrateful lot from harm! (Shame on you.)

Techno--perhaps you forget that Mike Fick bragged about working on the Star wars missile defense system--one of the great military boondoggles in US history. He did indeed suck that teat.

techno900,

Do you really believe that I deserved isobars' ugly rant?

In the first post that you quoted me, did I mention anything about the military? My intent was to highlight that isobars has been drawing money from the government for years, either working for the government or receiving Social Security, disability and retirement afterward. Both you and I receive Social Security, so we're all drawing money from the government. Moreover, we are all covered by Medicare and/or the VA.

isobars has always made a big deal about folks taking from the government, and the majority of his focus has been very negative and derisive. One has to only go back to his earlier comments in this thread.

The guy is the worst kind of hypocrite. Am I wrong about that? Of course, you're on his side of the fence, so maybe you don't want admit that I'm right.

Lastly, do you ever hear me ranting about American citizens and immigrants sponging off the government? Did I complain and carry on about any of the money being spent that was part of the Covid bill? In fact, I suggested that isobars might look at and consider the positives in the bill.

You didn’t say “drawing from”, Chandler.

Mentioning some of my (and tens of millions of others’) contributions to your freedom is not bragging. It’s called bona fides … credentials … of which you’ve claimed none. If you've never had to write a resume or a performance evaluation highlighting your or others' achievements, you coasted through your career.

You (like others here) have demonstrated your hatred of our military before in the same manner. Every prosthesis, every leg manually reconstructed from other body parts, every mass of scar tissue from burns I see on combat vets remind me of three categories of people: heroes, people who accept lesser but still tangible hardships in support of those heroes, and ungrateful POS like you, mac, GT, and many others like them right here who criticize people in those groups for accepting compensation for their service. Without evidence to the contrary, we have to assume you feel the way about OTHER greedy fools such as cops, firemen, Covid ward medical providers, doctors without borders, the retired SEAL I just met who put in three combat tours after getting blown up until he got blown up again, etc.

Whenever I catch you dumping that attitude here, I’m going to keep rubbing your nose in it no matter how hard you try to dodge the bullets YOU fire in plain sight then misrepresent when called out on it. You underestimate the intelligence and ability of readers here to see through your incessant passive aggression and blatant dodgeball. You don’t fool any rational people by rolling up on one cheek, grimacing, holding your nose, and asking “Who farted?” In case that went over your head, let me phrase it more directly: not even Baja Dean is deceived by your plausible deniability word games.

We see only two possible explanations for your oft-repeated disdain for the military in general and my military service in particular: you’re so jealous of my successes that you can’t see straight, or you’re simply a bigger POS than we thought. Thanks for the opportunity and impetus for me to remind myself of the good I see in people every day outside this sick forum.

Bullshit. You and everyone else here knows any such comments I make refer explicitly to people cheating the Gimme system at the expense of honest taxpayers. Once again you (and your shameless clones) lie about what you and others actually said, not caring that the written record trips you up every time.

you wrote:

Of course you don't rant about trillions of dollars spent on Gimme programs, open borders, and the endless printing of play money; you're a raging socialist with no concern for their devastating impact on the future of this or any other country. (Jeffrey Dahmer didn't rant about the menu or about the rising cost of meat, either.) Only a dangerous, ignorant (how else could one describe anyone who believes socialism works at the national level?), dyed-in-the-wool socialist would consider the specific Gimme programs I’ve mentioned as “positives”.

you also wrote:
, “Do you feel at all like an unworthy taker?”

Not for one second, by my own evaluation, that of the VA Benefits Director, the contract I swore an oath to under penalty of law 54 years ago, the Constitution, the life-threatening disabilities for which I receive compensation and those I do not, the impacts on my and my wife’s lives and careers, the meager pay we received compared to government contractors like you in similar jobs paying 3 times as much, the unnecessary death sentence my incompetent VA physician laid on me, and more.

Then you topped it off with one of the dumbest, most arrogant, most uninformed, more presumptuous questions I can remember on this forum when you wrote:
: “How do you justify getting so much?”

How in the holy hell would you have any CLUE how much money the government is paying me or my wife? Here’s one measure: Both of us would forgo our compensations in a heartbeat if that VA PCP hadn’t ignored my obvious cancer for three years, letting it metastasize to my carotid artery, my spine, and lymph nodes throughout my body, curtailing my windsurfing by over 95% and now going into its fifth major surgery … not to mention other effects I won’t mention. The race is on to see which kills me first, cancer or the multiple falls I take every day. (If my service-connected Meniere’s disease strikes when I’m sailing ... or maybe near anything hard or sharp ... I’m dead.)

The only dumber comment I remember here was a demand that I publish all my medical records here so you peons can second-guess the VA’s anti-veteran compensation rules.

Chandler, your verbal dodgeball is not going to conceal the fact from anyone that you’re a disgusting negative example of humanity.

mac, your ignorant comment about Star Wars has been debunked right here several times. Repeating your claim is just stupid.

isobars,

Needless to say, I stand by everything that I've said here. I call things as I see them.

We are all judged by what we say and do. You might want to reflect on that. Your long history on iWindsurf is telling, and it arguably works against you. Need I say more?

P.S. Should have clarified - Chandler not arrogant, or exhibiting delusions of grandeur!
