techno900, Kudos to you for thinking more practically about Joe Biden, and seemingly giving him some reasonable leeway to prove himself. It's good to know that you're not immediately foaming at the mouth like some here on your side of the fence.

Regarding your thoughts about the risk of Biden turning to a rabid promoter of far left socialism, I think that you can rest your fears. While it will take some time to see how Biden employs Kamala Harris' talents in the administration, I'm thinking that he will tap her experience in helping to resolve some of the law and order problems that have plagued our country for way too long, especially when it comes to folks of color and their poor treatment as citizens.

It doesn't surprise me that you fall back on your fears of Sen. Sanders and Rep. Cortez taking over and running the show. The right's grossly overblown craziness about them is laughable, especially given the very close margins between the two parties in both the House and Senate. I would like to think that there are a wealth of opportunities for cooperation, and it's my hope that Biden's promise to promote a more constructive bi-partisan process balancing the interests of the right and left in beneficial ways.

Lastly, the idea that you're already wringing your hands in worry about the possibility of a 1.9 trillion stimulus can't be taken seriously. I don't remember you getting so upset about Donald Trump and Republicans obscenely exploding our deficit and debt giving an unneeded windfall to corporations and the wealthiest folks in this country. The idea that you can change into your fiscally conservative set of clothes now that the Democrats are in control, is hardly believable and is an exceedingly specious ploy. Such blatant hypocrisy doesn't wear well with thoughtful folks.

SWC nailed it. When deficits are run by the GOP...silence. When deficits are run by the Democrats (and in recent times caused by GOP policies) they, suddenly, feel their conservative roots.

Why would I get upset at Trump's tax cuts. The wining from the left is mostly BS.

Quote:
The truth about Trump's tax cuts by the numbers, not by Biden: Andy Puzder

Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden often talks about repealing President Trump’s “tax cuts for the wealthy,” claiming in a recent town hall that “about $1.3 trillion of the $2 trillion of the tax cuts went to the top 1/10th of 1 percent” of earners. But did the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) disproportionally benefit high earners? Comparing the income tax data for 2017 (the year before the TCJA became law) with 2018, clearly demonstrates that it did not.

According to the nonpartisan Tax Foundation, the TCJA reduced effective tax rates “for all income groups in 2018.” Because we have a progressive tax system, high earners pay the highest rates and received the largest rate reductions. However, lowering rates for a group of taxpayers does not necessarily reduce their share of the tax burden.

Let’s look at the TCJA’s impact on the top one percent of taxpayers. In 2018, 1.6 million taxpayers reported earning $500,000 or more. While the amount all taxpayers owed the IRS in 2018 declined by $64 billion, the amount these high earners owed increased by $16 billion.

So here are the results of the Trump tax cuts:

--The income tax burden for high earners increased $16 billion to 40 percent of the total owed.

--The income tax burden for middle class earners decreased by $31 billion to 13 percent of the total owed.

--The income tax burden for low wage workers decreased by $4 billion to 1 percent of the total owed.

Doesn’t sound much like a tax cut for the wealthy.

So why does Biden keep saying what he says? To quote Ronald Reagan: “It isn’t so much that liberals are ignorant. It’s just that they know so many things that aren’t so.”

Now, I don't claim that all of my posts are perfectly written. In fact, probably many contain errors. But Teach, you have taken a rather high handed approach to ridicule my grammatical errors in the past. Sometimes while ignoring the content of the post.

Therefore, I feel no remorse in pointing out your error: "wining"?

Those in glass houses...

BTW do you think it's only the "left" who grouse about paying taxes?

techno900, Oh yeah, and Donald Trump's income taxes went up with his lower tax rate, right? He said that his taxes were going up, so let's take that as the honest truth. What a complete pantload!

Why would I believe a Trump cabinet member that throws out a bunch of BS statistics to dazzle and confuse us? I know that my income tax obligations immediately went up with the Trump tax cut, and I have to say that I made quite a bit less than the "middle class" median family income. I have to wonder why Puzder put middle class in parenthesis. Maybe it's supposed to make us feel special as we're being screwed.

Maybe you can fill us in on the reasons why our deficit and debt skyrocketed during the Trump Administration, especially in a raging economy before the start of the Covid 19 pandemic. The Trump tax cuts were the height of stupidity that only Republicans can create.

Why don't you try to pull another rabbit out of the hat.
