A simple solution for one of watersports’ greatest PITAs

You guessed it: Getting a %^&#<* wetsuit off your %(#)^*(^ ankles. Sure, plastic bags make putting them on very easy, but don’t help when removing them. Sure, panty hose make getting them on and off even easier, except with split-toed booties or barefooted. Full-body suits made for that purpose help a bit, but only if they’re dry.

When I recently fought for 45 minutes to get my ^#%)*($* wetsuit off my &^*#@~! ankles, I knew I had to find a better solution. I wasn’t impressed with the first two anti-chafing/blister/friction skin lubricants I tried that were made expressly for that problem, so I asked a triathlon competitor what she used (phrasing my question very carefully). She said she had tried many brands of them, and one clearly stood out. It’s called Trislide, it’s widely available, and it WORKS.

Another tip: wear disposable rubber/plastic gloves when rubbing it onto your ankles and lower legs. You do not want it on your hands. Spray on a quick spritz, spread it around by hand, and slide your feet and legs into and out of that suit MUCH more easily. More important, you don’t have to miss supper and drive kids and dogs away because you can’t get your $%^_)%^W@# wetsuit off your *%$%()^T^_)& ankles without dislocating your _%$%^)(# thumbs and filling the air with random symbols.

Even more important, I won’t have to cut another brand new suit off with scissors because I can’t get the &^*#@%^&@^! thing off. And I don’t have to pay a wetsuit manufacturer to convert any more suits’ ankles to gusseted, zippered cuffs.
