Here is something to think about for all those boardheads (and I say that affectionately) out there that complain about zulu sports and banners. I have been in and out of the sport for the past 20 odd years. I can remember the first windsurfer on the water in the early eighties. Every other cat and mono-hull sailor on the lake thought this guy was crazy for slogging along while standing up all the time. Thank God the sport didnt die back then. The fact is that windsurfing is a sport with limited popularity and a steep learning curve that turns off most people who give it a try. We all have heard countless times the stories of friends who have tried the sport and given up.

With low participation come higher costs and then starts the vicious circle. That’s simple economics. Thank God for the Internet, iwindsurf, zulu sports and banners. Thank God for anything that will help this site and sport survive.

Boardheads would be wise to acknowledge that no sport, especially windsurfing, is safe from extinction (in the long run). They should stop complaining and accept the recent developments for the overall good of the sport. And remember, no one is getting terribly rich in this sport unless they deserve it. If you hate it so much try starting a Web page without advertising income. Run the numbers and see what you would have to charge your subscribers! The world welcomes competitors not whiners.

Thank you father, for we have sinned.
Hey brother, WAY too many thank God... ref. for any mindless, sport/rec web page. Lighten-up. If it were blowing 20 plus with decent swell, We would rather not be venting. Most (not all) monohull or cat folks tend to be snobs.
And, your reasoning for extinction of our beloved sport is a little off. Ill get to that later.

Actually, I’m agnostic.

I admit the extinction comment is a little strong, but I got worked up writing the note. Nevertheless its not exactly a booming sport/industry.
