The Gorge is an awesome place to sail; however....
Paying that damn brige toll gets old.
Any hope that the Port of Hood River will ever reduce or eliminate the toll?
Ive heard the bridge is paid for already. Is this trye? Seems like a rip off to pay going both directions.
Probably the only recourse is to elect Port reps who reveal the real financial status for the need for tollsor not. |

The bridge was paid off many years ago, including maintenance. But since Hood River has no sales tax on the millions (?) of dollars we spend there (it was reported as $15M per year in 1985), their only other way to make us pay is the bridge toll. As for cutting the toll .... it was just RAISED 50% just a couple of years ago, so its not likely to go down in the forseeable future. Its a goldmine they arent likely to abandon unless we disappear altogether, if then.
