MIKE!!!!
didnt I say earlier that I have TWO kids??
I have two boys age 6 (twins) that ride and skate hard!
jump their bikes off small jump in back yard, skate the driveway (long driveway) etc.
anyway, I think we are talking two differant types of danger.
I am talking windsurfing and windskating.
I commented on you having barges to tend with.
I dont have those out here.
You are talking motor cross, and maybe mountain biking on a freeway...lol.
Sure, I can see a lite helmet maybe, but thats it!
When I was into motocross, I wore a helmet and gloves and boots and pads etc., but when I was racing bmx (not competition but free-style), no hemets or anything. none of my buds wore anything either. and no injuries.
I had My broken bones and mager stitchings, but My injuries happened while wearing safty gear.
Im not saying I was injured because of safty gear, just that I and all of my buds did not get hurt doing most sports without it.

Mike,, Its all relitive.
If you cant control your fall before the fall, then youll get hurt regardless of the safty gear or lack of it.

Like I said..... Its been fun doing the debate thing with ya...
btw,,, If I ever get the chance to go to the gorge, you think you could show me the best sailing sites there and maybe sail with me....
we could compete to see who flys higher or does more revs in a forward..
catch ya later. joeyyyy

ps. check my home page..
I put a few flat water
shots on it....

Mike,
I do have kids, and they do where helmets.
Their only 6, but they jump their bikes and Skateboard really hard.
a small helmet is all they have and that is more than I or any of my friends use. And we all play hard...

But I was making a comment on wearing a helmet in the water.
However You seem to want to teach (just like the other parents) the kids to rely on safty gear to save them. Safty gear isnt going to do much.
learning how to fall will.
as far as trajectory is concerned, a person prepaired to fall will create and or change his/her trajectory at launch time in an effort to have a fall style that is easier to control. Those people who are out of control, and not prepaired will Inevitably get more injured regardless of the safty gear or lack there of.
anyway,,, I think your a good guy, and I enjoyed debating with you.
Thanks..
P.s.
check out My home page to see some flat water fun.
