windsurfing in SAN DIEGO?

I am planning to move to San Diego from Bay Area. If anyone has any info. I would appreciate it. I have been windsurfing for 4 yrs mainly at Coyote Pt. in Bay Area. I have not sailed in open ocean waters. I consider myself an intermediate windsurfer and am still working on my jibes.

San Diego does have windsurfing but it is spotty. You can sail J Street or Mission Bay for flat water and Tourmaline for waves. There is always San Carlos. RCH

Thanks for the tip. By the way where is San Carlos? The other question that I have is: when is the windiest season in San Diego area (>15mph)?

See the San Carlos web site. It is about 2 hours west of El Resario. As to seasons, probably the winter is the best but it is not great. RCH

Spring (March - April) Clearing winds blow 20 - 25 but if you have a kite youll be on the water almost everyday in the summer.
