I will be traveling to Negril Jamaica this coming April. I am trying to find anyone with ssssailing or kiting experience or contacts to get details on sailing sites, equipment, conditions, etc. |

I have good and bad news.
I have been to Jamaica many times - always on the North side and East of Montego Bay, that is where it blows. Thats the good news.
The bad news is that the ocean at Negril is like a mirror - there is no wind and its hot. The beach is very nice but the windsurfing spots are definitively on the North side - and it takes at least 2:00 to get there - that, of course, is the bad news.
I have spent lots of time in June in the Ocho Rios area, and I can tell you that it blows 15 to 30 knots about 3-4 days a week.
The equipment in all-inclusive resorts is generally in bad shape.
I am very glad that a guy opened at last a real windsurfing place - I will go see him for sure...
Good luck in Negril, you will enjoy the place but not the windsurfing. |
