I am about to relocate in Dallas (Tx). I was wondering what were the windsurf conditions on the lakes and which one is the best. Thanks for the info. |

Hi, I dont live there anymore, and wasnt a windsurfer when I did. But, there are two great lakes for windsurfing in the Dallas area. Grapevine, and Ray Hubbard. Both are man made. In fact, as I recall, there are only two natural lakes in the whole state. Depending on what you do, where you work, you will want to live adjacent to either one of these two lakes.
In spring and fall, and on occasional winter days, it CRANKS in Dallas. Expect virtually nothing in summer (unless you like to race lightning strikes). I know a guy who wasnt a windsurfer when I lived there but took it up since then, and he told me that he gets upwards of 150 days a year. He works out of a van and can just go when the wind blows in the late afternoon.
Good luck |
