I keep sails rigged all season (@8 months) with full downhaul, but remove the booms since they wont fit in the garage. The mast does assume a bend, and the foot gets hard to remove and corroded a bit from constant salt and grit intrusion. But I have a 7.0 pryde V8 with whopper downhaul tension that refuses to die no matter the abuse I level upon it, and it stays rigged the longest. It has been through three seasons and was three years old when I inherited it. However, the mast is now a one piece unless I get a car to pull it apart. If you want the foot and mast to come apart ever again, wrap each joint with a strip of duct tape when you rig for the season.
