...isolated patches of mixed light freezing rain...snow and sleet
to affect the region through the overnight...
a series of diffuse and fast moving upper level systems will
produce areas of very light mixed precipitation through this
friday evening and overnight. while very little of this wintry
mix is forecast to accumulate...sidewalks and other surfaces are
below freezing due to the recent cold weather.
therefore any wintry mixture that falls may result in some
slippery spots. this will be especially true on lesser traveled
walkways...side roads and the like.
a slow moving warm front will gradually shift the focus from the
southern red river valley into the northern red river valley this
evening and overnight. by the late overnight into saturday
morning the best risk for this wintry mix will generally be along
and north of the highway 200 corridor.
as is always the case during this holiday season check ahead for
the latest forecast and travel conditions before setting out.

...a mix of light snow...sleet and freezing rain will result in
icy spots on untreated roads and surfaces this evening...
the steady snow has ended across the region...but periods of
light snow...sleet and freezing rain will continue through the
evening hours. given the lingering cold temperatures across the
area...the mixed precipitation will result in slippery conditions
on untreated roads...sidewalks and parking lots.
holiday travelers and shoppers should expect locally hazardous
driving conditions this evening. be sure to slow down and and allow
extra time to reach your destination.

...light snow...sleet and freezing drizzle may result in
slippery roads and sidewalks tonight...
periods of light snow will diminish early this evening...then
become mixed with sleet or freezing drizzle. given the lingering
cold temperatures across the area...the snow...sleet and freezing
drizzle will result in slippery travel conditions. anyone
traveling this evening should use extra caution...and allow for
extra travel time.

...patches of freezing drizzle or very light freezing rain this
evening...
a band of patchy light freezing drizzle and very light freezing
rain will cross southern wisconsin late this afternoon and
evening. locations north of a line rock...madison to milwaukee
line have the best chance to see the light freezing precipitation
between 4 pm and 8 pm...though areas to the south could see a
patch or two of freezing drizzle.
no widespread accumulations are expected...but a light coating on
metal objects and car windshields are possible where the light
freezing precipitation falls...as well as icy patches forming on
untreated roads.
use caution if encountering the light freezing precipitation this
evening. slow down and be prepared for slick conditions if
traveling this evening...especially during the evening commute.
