the national weather service in greenville-spartanburg has extended
the

* flood advisory for...
  northeastern greenville county in upstate south carolina...
  west central spartanburg county in upstate south carolina...

* until 845 am est saturday.

* at 838 pm est, as a result of earlier heavy rain, gauges reported 
  minor flooding along the middle tyger river. flooding of low spots 
  along mount lebanon church road is likely to continue overnight.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

  french broad river at blantyre affecting henderson and transylvania 
  counties

heavy rain that moved across the area has saturated the ground and caused
river levels to rise. additional runoff will likely cause the river
to crest just below flood stage.



precautionary/preparedness actions...

a flood advisory for a river forecast point means that nuisance 
flooding is expected to occur along the river when the river level is
forecast to be just below or at the official flood stage.

caution is urged when walking near river banks...keep children away 
from drainage areas and culverts.

  between the french broad river and brevard rd. and between the

  the altamaha river at charlotteville.
* until tuesday evening...or until the warning is cancelled.
* at  8:45 pm friday the stage was 15.6 feet.
* minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* flood stage is 13.0 feet.
* forecast...the river will continue rising to near 15.8 feet by 
  tomorrow early afternoon. the river will fall below flood stage 
  tuesday early afternoon.
* impact...at 14.0 feet...minor flooding continues in the woodlands 
  along the river upstream and downstream from the gage on the u.s. 
  highway 221 bridge. the water covers the low portion and entrance 
  of towns bluff lane by the bridge. the public boat ramp is under 
  two feet of water. flood waters expand further into south 
  montgomery county around 1.5 miles upstream from the gage. the 
  water will be one to two feet deep over portions of three rivers 
  lane...altamaha river road and ogle sandbar road.
* impact...at 13.0 feet...flood stage is reached. minor flooding 
  occurs in the woodlands along the river upstream and downstream 
  from the gage on the u.s. highway 221 bridge. the water reaches the
  top of the public boat ramp by the bridge. flood waters expand in 
  low lying areas in south montgomery county around 1.5 miles 
  upstream from the gage. the water will begin to cover portions of 
  three rivers lane...altamaha river road and ogle sandbar road.
* impact...at 11.0 feet...bankfull conditions occur along the river 
  upstream and downstream from the gage on the u.s. highway 221 
  bridge. some flooding begins in low lying areas around 1.5 miles 
  upstream from the gage in south montgomery county. the water will 
  approach portions of three rivers lane...altamaha river road and 
  ogle sandbar road.
