the national weather service in key west has issued a small craft
advisory for all waters surrounding the florida keys...including
florida bay...hawk channel...and the remainder of the near and offshore
gulf and atlantic waters.
* winds and waves...northwest winds will increase to 20 to 25 knots
across the offshore gulf waters by late this morning...and then to
the remaining waters surrounding the florida keys this afternoon.
seas up to 9 to 10 feet are possible in the offshore gulf waters
and in the western-most atlantic waters by the afternoon.
precautionary/preparedness actions...
a small craft advisory means that wind speeds of 20 to 33 knots...
and/or seas 7 feet or higher...are expected to produce hazardous
conditions for small craft. inexperienced mariners...especially
those operating smaller vessels should avoid navigating in these
conditions.

the national weather service in melbourne has issued a gale
warning...which is in effect from 4 am to 10 pm edt saturday.
* winds and seas...west to northwest winds 25 to 30 knots with
frequent gusts to around 35 knots will develop late tonight and
continue into saturday night then become north around 20 knots
on sunday. short period seas will build to near 7 feet late
tonight and up to 10 feet saturday through sunday.
precautionary/preparedness actions...
the small craft advisory is for west to northwest winds 20 to 25
knots and gusty...which will produce hazardous conditions for
small craft. inexperienced boaters...especially those operating
smaller vessels...should avoid navigating in these conditions.
the gale warning is for west to northwest winds 25 to 30 knots
with frequent gusts top around 35 knots. operating a vessel in
gale conditions requires experience and properly equipped vessels.
it is highly recommended that mariners without the proper
experience seek safe harbor prior to the onset of gale conditions.
