galveston bay-waters from high island to freeport out 20 nm-
434 am cst thu nov 26 2015
...sea fog still possible tonight and friday...
deep moisture riding over the colder shelf waters of the gulf of
mexico will support sea fog formation. while there is still
potential for this to happen...the window is closing. the airmass
over the gulf has dewpoints in the upper 60s to low 70s. it may
take moisture with dewpoints in the low 70s to support sea fog
formation this evening and overnight persisting into friday. at
the same time gulf waters are warming. fog may first form over
galveston bay but could expand more into the near shore waters of
the gulf of mexico along the upper texas coast. the sea fog threat
may extend into the weekend before a cold front scours out the
moisture late sunday or early monday.
dense sea fog can reduce visibilities to below 1 nautical mile.
plan on reduced travel speeds and be sure your navigation lights
and equipment are fully functional.
