...record high temperatures expected today and another hot night
on tap for the el paso area...
.high pressure aloft and a dry and stable airmass will result in
record high temperatures this afternoon...and another hot night
tonight. the record high temperature for today is 104 degrees as
set in 1963. the official forecast high is for 105 degrees.
overnight low temperatures across the urban area and much of the
lower valley are expected to stay in the upper 70s to near 80
degrees tonight. temperatures may only be a degree or two cooler
for sunday...and the heat advisory may need to be extended. the
threat of heat stress and heat related illnesses will be high
during this period...especially for those involved in stressful
outdoor activities.

or pets should not be left in a motor vehicle as this will
cause extreme harm or even death within a short time.

advisory...which is in effect from 10 am this morning to 7 pm cdt
this evening.
* event...a weakening upper level ridge of high pressure will
maintain very hot and humid conditions over the area.
temperatures in the mid to upper 90s...combined with the high
humidity...will maintain heat index values from 105 to 109
degrees through sunset.
* timing... from late morning through early evening.
* impact...a heat advisory means that hot temperatures and high
humidity will combine to create a situation in which heat
related illnesses are possible. caution is recommended for
those who will be outdoors.
precautionary/preparedness actions...
take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. when
possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
