...mild and moist storm system to bring flooding potential...

.a mild pacific storm system will bring periods of rain and high
mountain snow to the region this evening and continue at times
through thursday evening. moderate to heavy rainfall amounts and
melting low and mid elevation snow will saturate the ground and
lead to an increased threat of small stream flooding as well as
mud and rock slides in the mountain zones of eastern washington
and far north idaho.

...flood watch remains in effect through thursday evening...

the flood watch continues for

* portions of north idaho and washington, including the
following counties, in north idaho, bonner and boundary. in
washington, chelan, ferry, okanogan, pend oreille, and

* now through thursday evening

* heavy rainfall and melting snow will lead to saturated ground
  conditions with significant channeled runoff.

* runoff from rain and snow melt will swell streams and channels
leading to localized flooding along small streams and in low
spots and highway culverts. saturated conditions will make
soil and rocks susceptable to giving way on steep slopes as
  mud and rock slides.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

a flood watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

you should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
