.a pacific cold front crossing nevada saturday will generate
strong southerly winds across the western valleys of utah saturday
afternoon and evening. the strongest winds will developing by
around mid-afternoon...then continue through the late evening

...wind advisory in effect from noon saturday to midnight mdt
saturday night...
the national weather service in salt lake city has issued a wind
advisory...which is in effect from noon saturday to midnight mdt
saturday night.
* affected area...the great salt lake desert and mountains...the
west central and southwest valleys of utah.
* winds...sustained winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts approaching
50 mph.
* timing...southerly winds will steadily increase saturday
morning...then peak during the mid-afternoon through late
evening hours. winds will shift to the west and gradually
decrease late saturday night.
* impacts...strong cross winds will develop along west-to-east
highways across the advisory area. areas of blowing dust are
possible near open agricultural lands.
precautionary/preparedness actions...
a wind advisory means that sustained wind speeds of at least 31
mph or gusts of 45 mph are expected. motorists in the advisory
area should be prepared for sudden gusty cross winds which can
make driving difficult.
