national weather service grand junction co

...the flood advisory continues for the roaring fork river...

roaring fork river near aspen affecting pitkin county

.recent warm temperatures will continue this week causing increased
snowmelt in the roaring fork river basin. along with these
temperatures, tunnel closures upstream have also contributed to
higher flows. temperatures will remain warm this week which will
keep the river near or just above bankfull. lowland areas near the
river will remain inundated for the next few days and then slowly
recede.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

safety message...caution is urged when walking near waterways. avoid
flooded areas and unstable riverbanks. stay tuned to developments by
listening to noaa weather radio or your local tv or radio stations.

river rafters and kayakers should use caution on rivers with
increased flows...strong currents...and cold water temperatures.
novices should ride with experienced guides or commercial
outfitters. even experienced boaters should be aware of the
hazards a river presents at differing levels and rates of flow.

additional information can also be found on the nws grand junction
homepage at weather.gov/gjt
