southern salinas valley/arroyo seco and lake san antonio-
northern salinas valley/hollister valley and carmel valley-
including the cities of greenfield, king city, and salinas
339 pm pst thu feb 23 2017

...flood watch in effect through friday morning...

the national weather service san francisco bay area has issued a

* flood watch for a portion of western california, including the
  following areas: salinas valley.

* through friday morning

* ongoing releases from lake nacimiento have resulted in
significant rises on the salinas river. the monterey county
water agency indicates there is currently no flooding along the
salinas river. however, continued releases from lake nacimiento
may cause further rises on the salinas river and minor flooding
  is possible.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

a flood watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

you should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.

flood watch
national weather service sacramento ca
300 pm pst thu feb 23 2017

carquinez strait and delta-northern san joaquin valley-
300 pm pst thu feb 23 2017

...flash flood watch remains in effect through saturday morning...

the flash flood watch continues for

* a portion of northern california...including the following
areas...and delta and the levees along the lower san joaquin
river in the northern san joaquin valley.

* through saturday morning

* don pedro and other local dams are making large reservoir
releases that are raising river levels along the lower san
joaquin river north of grayson. these elevated levels are
causing flooding in the low-lying areas along the river and
increasing concerns on the levees in the area.

* as a precaution, san joaquin county officials and the national
weather service are encouraging local residents to be prepared
to take action in the event that levee conditions deteriorate.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

a flash flood watch associated with levees means that there is an
issue on the levee that if it were to deteriorate into a failure
it could lead to flash flooding and the rapid arrival of flood
waters into the area normally protected by the levee.
