...a brief period of freezing rain possible overnight...

rainfall will spread over the area overnight tonight as a warm
front moves through. surface temperatures east of the green
mountains will be near or just below freezing at the onset of the
rain, so there may be a brief period of freezing rain in eastern
vermont between midnight and 6 am before surface temperatures warm
to above freezing and precipitation becomes plain rain. localized
pockets of a glaze to a few hundredths of an inch of ice will be
possible. impacts will be mitigated by the transition to rain
before sunrise for most of the area, except for essex county vt
where temperatures will be slowest to warm and light freezing rain
may last slightly longer.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

the brief freezing rain may quickly coat roadways with a thin
layer of ice that may be undetectable. please use extreme
caution...especially on bridges...overpasses and around curves.
allow plenty of stopping distance and avoid braking suddenly.
