the national weather service in jackson has issued a

* flood warning for...
  northeastern lawrence county in south central mississippi...

* until 945 pm cdt wednesday

* at 938 am cdt, emergency management reported that some roads and 
  bridges still remained closed due to flooding around mainly 
  eastern portions of lawrence county. water is somewhat receding 
  but garrett road near highway 43 is closed and some roads and 
  bridges were washed out, near ella bryant road and east smith 
  ferry road. most of the ongoing flooding continues mainly along & 
  south of the highway 84 corridor, south of silver creek. rainfall 
  estimates in the past 48 hours range from 7 to 10 inches across 
  these areas and earlier widespread flooding issues are only slowly 
  improving, even though rainfall ceased earlier yesterday.

* some locations that will experience flooding include...
  arm and silver creek. 

precautionary/preparedness actions...

turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
