...a flood warning remains in effect until 130 am est for northern
meigs...washington...southwestern morgan...athens and wood
counties...

at 1047 pm est, doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated an 
area of very heavy rainfall had moved across the warned area. 
automated river gauges showed that streams had risen, including the 
duck and sunday creeks, and the shade river. duck creek was just 
above bankfull at macksburg, but its rise was starting to slow. the 
ohio department of transportation reported ongoing road closures in 
athens county west of athens, and on state route 143 south of 
wolfpen in meigs county.

some locations that will experience flooding include...
parkersburg, athens, marietta, belpre, nelsonville, glouster,
beverly, albany, coolville, chesterhill, forked run state park,
vienna, williamstown, washington, mineralwells, tuppers plains,
lubeck, boaz, chester and chauncey.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.

please report flooding to the national weather service by calling
toll free, 800 401 9535, when you can do so safely.

you may also report flooding by posting your report to the charleston
west virginia national weather service facebook page, or by using the
