* at 11:00 am thursday the stage was 100.2 feet.
* flood stage is 100.0 feet.
* minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* forecast...the river will continue rising to near 100.5 feet by
saturday morning. additional rises may be possible thereafter.
* impact...at 100.0 feet...water begins to enter some lake front
properties. water also begins to threaten low lying roads...
piers...and docks. wave action can compound flooding on windward
facing shorelines.

...the flood warning remains in effect until 530 pm edt for north
central aroostook county...
at 231 pm edt an ice jam continues to result in flooding in and
around st. francis with water covering route 161. a portion of 161
extending from near the town line between st. francis and st. john
extending west to allagash remains closed.
* the area in and around st. francis is expected to continue to be
the most affected area however persons both up and downstream need
to remain vigilant as conditions can change very quickly.
a flood warning means that flooding is imminent or has been reported.
stream rises will be slow and flash flooding is not expected.
however...all interested parties should take necessary precautions
immediately.
precautionary/preparedness actions...
most flood deaths occur in automobiles. never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the road. when encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice...turn around...dont drown.

...the flood warning remains in effect until 500 pm edt for extreme
southwestern penobscot county...
at 1152 am edt law enforcement in penobscot county report that the
east branch of the sebasticook river has spilled over its banks and
flooding is occurring on several roads.
the lincoln street bridge is closed as a culvert let go on
lincoln street and significant water is flowing across the road.
evacuations are underway on liberty...water...and lincoln streets as
water is flowing down these roads.
areas in and around dexter will be impacted by the flood waters
during the next several hours.
a flood warning means that flooding is imminent or has been reported.
stream rises will be slow and flash flooding is not expected.
