A tip for male Hatteras windsurfers with non-sailing spouses. If you are in need of bonus points to allow even more sailing time, or if you have a non wind day, head to Manteo on Roanoke Island (about 30 minutes North of Avon).........it's right on the waterfront. There are a number of decent restaurants there.........the Full Moon and Stripers are good, Magnolia Grill is cheap and cheerful, as is Poor Richards........and if you've you've really been bad, 1587 is very nice.......there are several others. Also, there are plenty of small shops that long suffering wives usually enjoy roaming around..........and a number of interesting things to do on Roanoke Island that may get you briefly out of the doghouse. |

Breakwater in Hatteras Village they are cool with BYOB. No one mentioned Pop's Steamed Schrimp and great burgers.
The fisheman platter at Mad Crabber is pretty awsom!
Just a few..... Deli Sammiches and Sushi at Village Grocery if there open yet? |

Dear Team:
Having spent a week down in Buxton I think I spent more time in restaurants than on the water--not a great wind week. Here is my restaurant review--
Cafe 12--good soups; good sandwiches and really nice folks (espanding at current location)
Dolphin Den--forget it, small portion, not tasty and indifferent service
Dinky's--very good food, nice views, but really LOUD --even when 1/2 full
Buxton Munch--good crab cake sandwiches / wraps and nice people
Island Perk (Diner) -- good breakfast--good coffee--reaqlly good cinnamon rolls--nice folks
Inn om Pamlico Sound--fancy place with really good food, great views, really great wine list at reasonable prices--a bit slow on the service
Captains Table--prettty good food but seem to rush you and a bit sloppy on presentation
Thanks all for your suggestions--Wiching you all good wind!

For the last couple of years our favorite is MacDaddy's, Their fish is really fresh and they can cook it to perfection any way you like (even pink in the middle). Fish tacos and hamburgers and fries are really great. Micro brews on draft. Great service. We'll be back! |

Try the Avon Cafe in the Foodlion shopping center in Avon obviously. Smaller place but excellent menu. If Toeside Tom is working, bound to be a fun time!! |
