Any opinions or experiences on the ICOM M93D VHF marine radio?

I like the idea that you have both a 2 way communication device and a built-in GPS distress transmitter built in one.

I don't know anything about that radio but don't trust it to be waterproof by itself.

It is rated IPX7: Can be submerged up to 1 meter in water for 30 minutes.

Windsurfing will put a lot more pressure on it than 1 meter of submersion will.

When I sailed in the bay area I tried radios with that rating, and even put them in "waterproof" plastic bags. I went through 3 of them and gave up.

I now use a GPS rescue device (no radio) marketed to scuba divers that can handle water pressure of 425 feet depth. (Nautilus Lifeline)
