As of October 1st, you can't ship anything via Amtrak. Used to be, by FAR, the cheapest way to ship a board, but not an option any longer. If you have a business connection with LTL freight hauler, that might work, otherwise it's UPS or Fedex at about $250. _________________ Kansas City |

Back in the summer I shipped a board down to Texas and there was a sign on the wall stating exactly what you said. If enough people complain to Congress they will reinstate the program, otherwise, as of 10/1, no more "surfboard" shipping. It was $125 one way, which was outstanding. The board was going from Connecticut to Corpus Christi, but Amtrak could only do Albany, NY to San Antonio stations. Not a bad deal. |

Then, let's complain!
Would anyone craft a petition?

Also last summer I needed to get a board from the Bay area to Connecticut. We put it on the Uship website and found someone willing to haul it for $325. It turned out to be someone from Texas that pulls a trailer back and forth cross country, mostly delivering antiques, that had room in the trailer for the board. The seller gave me a discount on the price to offset some of the shipping cost. |
