He chose not to use the Kineric 8"9' nor the 90 liter Freestyle in the finals, even holier wind...but decent gusts. He came in 4th or 5th, I couldn't watch his struggles. |

As said earlier, a quick tack onto a wave is needed in wave comps.
But in free sailing, no sailor is giving way to a snake after he snakes a couple of waves. Just bad karma, for you sailors not wise in the ways of wavesailing.
Outside guy has right of wave, then 1st onto wave. |

Tacking doesn't need a reason or a specific situation to learn how to do them. It's another skill to master just for the sake of mastering it. I like getting better at sailing, improving my skills. Otherwise it gets boring . I don't NEED to tack in the Gorge but it sure is satisfying. Yes, it's hard but if if I wanted easy I'd learn to kite. |
