Yes, that's the part that worries people. That is, immunity seems quite elusive .

Boggs--perhaps not impossible. Portugal was down to 832 new cases and Spain to 1889. Both have an infection rate nearly 30% lower than the US. Like smallpox, measles, polio, the answer is wide spread vaccination. The sad fact is that a very large minority in the United States has a poor understanding of both public safety and what is actually in the Constitution.

The current rising incidence of Covid cases (not deaths) in the U.K. is certainly partly being fuelled by school children, the majority having not yet been vaccinated. (A hot potato issue as to should or should not be.) They ,of course, if infected, pass it on in the community.

Other factors are the refusal of many to accept being vaccinated (many deaths in that group) and, the fact that us oldies were all vaccinated at the start of the year and the protective effects have now declined after the 6 or seven months since the initial treatment. (A main reason why I have booked my booster appointment.)

Most of the younger people (Teens and twenty somethings) seem to think that the pandemic is now over, bar the shouting, and have reverted to pre pandemic behaviour in many towns and cities. (Mass gatherings and mixings, and raves in doors.)

It strikes me as bizarre that those who refuse to take responsibility for their actions are the first to blame the Government for not ordering them as to what to do. Someone should point out to them that they are no longer under school type discipline and they are expected to act as grown ups! i.e. They should think for themselves!

GT—the currently low death rate, impressive in Britain, but a general trend in developed countries, is a triumph for modern medicine and science. Treatment has improved, we have discovered things like monoclonal antibodies and now some promising anti-virals, and vaccines do a dandy job of preventing death.

To look at that clear evidence of science, and know that Mrna delivery systems have been under development for over a decade, and then see the anti-vax and antifacts movements is to court despair. How could so many people be so foolish?

Quite so Mac. I'm glad it was the Pfizer vaccine I was offered, and will also be the booster. It has been proven very good, and successful, as have some of the others.

Just an update on the Pfizer vaccine program. Israel is ahead in their vaccination program. They followed a similar path to us (the U.K.) by relaxing restrictions early, and suffering a surge in Delta cases. That surge dropped dramatically when they introduced the booster jab. They now find, in some cases, that the third injection has given almost 100% protection against Delta.

In other words, the Pfizer vaccine SHOULD be seen as a three jab protection course of treatment, not just a two jab course. (That is my reading of the situation, rightly or wrongly, and come Monday my course will then be complete.)

They say that experience is the great teacher, and treatment of this pandemic has been evolving quickly. I pity those idiots who choose to swallow idiotic conspiracy nonsense and reject the vaccine. Their funeral, as we say!

Greetings GT,

I am as of yesterday, a Pfizer 3 jab guy myself, and dang it my arm hurts.
Must be that tracking chip they put in there. I'm pleased that I can
now be found and redeposited when my faulty memory takes me far astray.

-Craig

p.s. this virus appears to mutate too fast for the world (or any country)
to develop herd immunity naturally, at least you live on an Island.
Que the Andromeda Strain music.

Well indeed Craig, I am an island, but I'm not entire unto myself! It took me a while to realise that if you headed out to sea (those pesky luring longboards) you needed to remember where it was you actually started from.

Made a change from nowadays, and where the hell did I leave those car keys? (How are the mighty fallen!)

Had a conversation today with a guy happy he's now triple vaxxed. I mentioned that I'm double vaxxed but want to research the boosters further before getting one. He began rattling off all sorts of impressive-sounding statistics, then shot his argument down in flames by adding that "I do whatever my doctor tells me to do".

IOW, he bets his life, limbs, child's health, mobility, longevity, and every other medical issue on sheer luck ... his choice of doctors. Hundreds (thousands?) of doctors have signed conflicting petitions for or against specific anti-Covid measures, and Fauci's house of cards is catching up with him.

No way. I've caught countless GPs, nurses, surgeons, oncologists, cardiologists, many other specialists, and world-class medical institutions making finger- or -life threatening mistakes JUST ON ME to passively base my future on the Yellow Pages or the size of any institution's endowments.

The almighty Oz, in the corner, pumping out falsehoods and conspiracy stories. I'm getting jabbed in the morning, thanks for reminding me.
