So nearly 5 1/2 years after originating this topic I’ve spent 4 1/2 years in Melbourne, FL. Mainly sailing Cherie Down/Cocoa Beach and south to Melbourne Beach. Best DTL sailing I’ve had in the last 4 1/2 years has been vacations to elsewhere. Best DTL sailing in Florida for me has been Jupiter Inlet or Hobe Sound.

you hit the nail on the head if you want down the line wavesailing get to the airport to maximize your days and wave count

Cabo Verde Sal - Jan-March

Maui - Sept- Nov

Baja- San Carlos- Spring

Oregon Coast - June

NJ -when its good - strong NE wind and overhead waves , which is common in there is a spot in south jersey with walls of DTL wave sailing , just south of an inlet, said too much , some of the best wave rides around

hope you are scoring some water time,

I’m quite partial to PR for quick trips from Orlando airport.

johnny A; think i know of the spot you describe in south jersey. there is extended family lore of an 18ft outboard being flipped endo stern over bow by a rouge following wave coming in there. rookie boater but of corse anywhere bay meets ocean can be tricky. are you sailing in mouth there or more on the edge?same family will be renting merely a short drive away in sept. i might like to check it out.

Los Caballos (the horses) is the break in San Juan. Epic wave that keeps curving back to meet you. It's about a mile offshore near the airport. If you squint you can pretend you're in Maui ; )

Shacks is a frighteningly shallow reef imho

Corson's Inlet was a well-known wave sailing spot in NJ 35 years ago. When did it become a secret?

Haven’t sailed there in a few years, but Holgate, NJ can be very good on NE as well and offers some decent DTL rides.

Biggest issue in NJ is all the damn jettys which tend to cut the ride short. Holgate is pretty much wide open. Oops, might have said too much already.... Very Happy

Reflecting on just over 6 years of living in Florida, I can unequivocally agree that the best wavesailing in Florida is found at the airport check-in counter
