Hi, I'm heading down to Punta San Carlos in mid April. I've heard stories about what's happening at PSC during the pandemic - like the military patrolling the area, and the trailer at Solo Sports catching on fine. Has anyone recently gone down there? Or does anyone know what's it's like now that Solo Sports has left?
Thanks

Well, there are alternatives.
Bud of mine talked about his 3 trips to the area, just S of La Bocana, windy dirt road narrower and steeper than PSC, leading to a outside reef super mushy, often just rolling swell break. He camped there for weeks at a time, very secluded.
We tried to sail San Quintin when it's windy. Sometimes it's not.
There's some town well back from the highway, forgot the name, with several point breaks leading in...has a name like a town on the highway. We surfed it, glassy conditions, but would be fine on NW winds, the actual points located about 2 miles S from town, so clean wind. Rosario?
We were dumb enough to camp a couple miles nw of PSC, Antonio, hoping the waves would hold up, but being S swell, just closed out. Wasted those says as we found out PSC was all time cranking while we started out at closeouts.
Anywhere you find waves with unobstructed NW wind is sailing and probably has been sailed extensively. |

We had a great trip. Solo Sports is all boarded up. Sailed 3.7 all week in head high waves. |

Does anyone know if Solo Sports is close permanently, or just for the pandemic? |

Last communication I had w/Kevin is that next year will be open. Travel restrictions and entry to the states from Baja with a chance of covid were to much. Guesstimating costs to reopen next year ALOT of new gear and repairs . Planning on it |
