Recommended launches near Elk Rapids,MI? Local clubs/groups?

Hi, I'm now living near Elk Rapids, MI and I'm wondering what launches people like around here, especially Elk, Torch, and East Bay. I know I should probably just pick based on the wind, but to be honest it's been like 8 years and I'm feeling a bit apprehensive about just striking out solo into deep water. What launches do you like around here? I'm thinking things like shallow waterstarts, low boat traffic, parking, lack of hills to disrupt on/offshore (one of my problems with Torch), other local sailors around, fun spots for slogging around in light wind, and an easy swim home. I'm hoping to get back into regular sailing so finding some low-stress launches for light to moderate days would be great.

Also, where do people head for the stronger days when it's worth making a trip out of it? I've been to Sturgeon Bay before with some Lake Lansing buds and it was awesome, any other regional destinations I should know about?
