Second session yesterday at O'Neill forebay. Missed the 20 min of good wind.

Windward caught me on his cell phone

Water Level web site can give you the water level by the hour

https://cdec.water.ca.gov/dynamicapp/QueryF?s=onf

221 is a low medium level 224 is full

Water level was about 221 both Saturday and Sunday. While the weeds were mostly just below the surface on Saturday, some algae gobs were starting to form on the surface on Sunday. Temperature reached 90 degrees F on Sunday. Some foilers were there when I arrived, but they said it was too weedy and did not go out except to check it out. I did see a winger on the larger part of the Forebay who must have launched somewhere on the Madeiros side. I did a search for weed free areas for a friend who was going to come and wanted to foil. GPS track attached. He ended up leaving the west side to seek possibilities elsewhere.

Coach, if you are weeks away from getting to the Forebay, that weed fin might turn out to be a wise investment.

Thanks Windward. It was so nice back in May, hard to believe it turned so quickly.

Most of the Larkspur crew was over the hill this afternoon for good solid wind and cooler temperature. It's still blowing at 10pm.

Since being forced to try a weed fin (or not WS) out east in the Gorge several years ago, I use only weed fins. They perform at least as well as any other wavy fin I've ever seen, and they ignore weeds (milfoil, lying on the surface). Even mattress size clumps merely slow them down, compared to ordinary wave fins that can put you over the handlebars. Our launch was so weed-infested that even with the board upside down, it took me 45 minutes of all-out, gut-busting effort to fight through them to anything resembling foiling. Coming back in through that mess with a wave fin on a WSer brought other WSers to a quick halt, whereas with a weed fin I went through them effortlessly and confidently at maxxed-out, hooked-in, closed-gap, broad reach speed.

Anyone, anywhere, whose WSing is hampered by weeds owes it to himself to at least try one out. My first pick is the MFC San Carlos, then Surfgrass, then Black Project.
