Rig- W/o getting into the issue of the divergent angles of sail and speed of wingers vs. windsurfers, particularly at the entrance to the cove, the more the merrier at TI. Hope to see ya out there whether winging or slashing old school style.

Ross, I found this presentation. Though it can be old.
https://sfgov.org/arts/sites/default/files/141020-TI%20_presentation_small.pdf
In there page 24-25 there is route to the cove. But I dont see any other details.
It mentions the optional weekend route (I am assuming a bus) and bike/auto residential street. Is this something close to what you have seen lately?

For Ross and Cosmecho--Here is the address of the adopted master plan, and if I did it right, it will open to Page 30 of the open space plan. https://app.box.com/s/kv6ey2zyuia4ks875dj0t18d8j3vszdh

If you look carefully, it shows the two access points that Peter Thorner negotiated--the upwind one is labeled 3 and 2 is the parking lot, and the current one is labeled 3 with the parking lot labeled 9. I did check to make sure that was in the plan before I voted for it.

Some good news here!

Candlestick state park is talking about building the new gate from Hunterspoint Expressway,
somewhere in March-April. Also, they are talking about extending the hours to 7pm.

TI Tolling project is on hold. City is looking for some other funding to finance the transportation on the island.

Cosmoecho can you teel me more about "the new gate" from Hunterspoint Expressway. Hadn't heard of that. Any updates since Feb? Went to Candlestick today but it was completely fenced off due to flooding. Even the detour by the VTC was closed. Has anyone launched from the Last Port parking lot upwind or anywhere else for that matter to access Candlestick while the park is closed due to flooding?

New gate is not there yet. Some diehards parked their cars up the hill and brought everything down to the launch area with a cart dolly. Laughing

Updates on Candlestick Point.

The Good: Candlestick Point State Recreation Area has been open for a few days now. There is a new gate up the street that we can use to enter the park.

The Bad: City street leading up to the main gate of Candlestick Point State Recreation Area remains flooded and San Francisco's mosquito breeding program is very promising.

The Beautiful: A man from the private security company that manages the opening and closing of the park told me that if we happen to sail past 5PM in the future, just call 916-398-7973. They will send someone over to let us out. When I left the park around 6PM today, there were still 5 or 6 cars inside and each car had a small note (see attachment) on the windshield with a number to call to get out.

Fantastic that Candlestick is open again and now until 7p. Does one drive there via 101 and Hunters Point Expressway or is that route still closed and do you have to approach from Gilman Ave by the Vehicle Triage Center (RV living)?

While 7pm is ok, that is not good enough.
Also, it came to our attention that the Candlestick State Park is in violation of the BCDC permit.
Candlestick State Park must be opened at all hours or apply for the restricted hours to BCDC.
The Candlestick State Park has not applied yet for the permit amendment.
