I know what is my least favorite: 3rd Ave on a zero tide. That's what I did, or attempted to do this Wednesday. I ended up walking damn near to the channel marker. Then there was less wind in the channel than inside. But no water inside. I shoulda known better.

My favorite spring (and summer) spot is Sherman Island. I live in Rio Vista, so why drive? I usually sail out of Rio Viento, but the County Park is good for seeing old friends. BTW, last weekend was great!

Tomales Bay!! Sailing Tomales lets us know that spring is here. Already got a good 4.0 day up there this year. Big wind, big swell, lots of greenery, and a very nice drive.

As stated ealier, I don't think you can beat the Delta. But with Windy Cove closed, Rancho Seco offers a nice alternative for North winds. Grassy, sheltered rigging area, flat water blasting and most importantly, hot-yes hot-showers! Warm up between winter sessions or getting out of wet suit into dry winter clothes. Man am I spoiled.

Rancho Seco is located in the Sacramento Valley between Galt and Ione. That is north of HWY 12, just east of HWY 99. It is located on Twin Cities Road. Between 30-45 minutes east of Antioch.
It is a decommissioned Power Plant. It hasn't been used in years.
