|
|
Hi I`ve been reading in this forum for a while now, but right now I`m sort of desperate. I`m currently living in Switzerland and I`m looking for a place to go in February. I can only go for two weeks, so the travel time should be less than 20 hours from Frankfurt/London/Western Europe.
What I am looking for. The air should be warm, I can live with cool water. More important: wind probability >70%. I like both freestyle and waves, so either flat water or something wavey. I have never surfed a reef, but I can manage strong waves up to 4m high (never surfed higher ones, but I`m willign to try) and wind up to 40 knots. In general I like strong winds, but I only weigh about 120 lbs so I can handle light wind with small sails.
So, what places can you recommend? |

Been to the Canaries.. a bit sceptical about Cape Verde. There is NOTHING else to do on Sal... only about 10.000 people live there.. |

"ONLY" 10,000 people? Jeez, man, what kind of parties do you NEED?
(I grew up in a bustling city of 3,500 -- and it was the biggest town around.)
Arenal should wear you out so thoroughly that your main problem will be lack of sleep, not lack of party people. Maybe you need TWO vacations ... a WSing trip and a week in Rio.

It`s an ISLAND, there is nowhere else to go.. I`m living in a great place of 4,500 right now, but at least I can go somewhere else if I want to. Not that easy from Sal.. Unless you are willing to use on of ther 1950s ferries.
I just like bigger place.. they don`t have to be huge.. but come on.. nothing? My boyfriend will leave me on the island because I am so annoying when there`s now wind |

Check out Caberete, Dominican Republic. Great wind and waves, freestyle, food on the beach, drunkin' donkey races, sweet surfing spot. etc.
Easy travel destination from Europe. February is usually pretty windy and the winter kicks up the biggest waves. A nice mushy one with limited consequences.
Super Fun and cheap! |

Check out Margarita.
You can catch a direct flight out of Frankfurt and February is normally a good month for wind.
Another plus is it is one of the least expensive of the Caribbean destinations and there is plenty else to do besides sailing if you are so inclined.
It is a great venue to hone your skills. |
