FYI to anyone interested. Producer needs to be clued-in that they should also be filming some windsurfing @ Arroyo Laguna...

[ORIGINAL POST (ON iKITESURF)]
We are producing a film on California State Parks and are looking to film some Kitesurfing at Arroyo Laguna in San Simeon Friday June 17 at 5 PM. We would also like to interview a kitesurfer about the elephant seals there, getting past them to surf, etc.

PLEASE contact me so we can discuss further! Check out our cool website to see who we are and what we do!

LOL! Why they didn't ask:

General public's view of what windsurfing is,
Windsurfer's view of what windsurfing is.

Looks like a " Kiters are bad people for disturbing the seals" kind of thing. I maybe wrong but if I'm not let the kiters take the heat.

This piece from their Web site suggests that they might be looking more to advocate for continued support of the state parks:

Whether the project's perspective is supportive of diverse recreational uses (as compared to restrictive nature preserves) remains an open question.

Funny time of the year to try and do somethng about elephant seals! The big ones are there in winter. Those there now are non migrating mixed jueveniles and smaller females, and not great in number. Peculiar.

surfer, windsurfer, kiter, family hanging out at the beach. Add seals. equals... Leave the seals alone! WTF!
But then again every time I hug a tree all I get back is a cooled scratchy feeling. go figure!!

If you want pic of seals at Arroyo Laguna during the date you posted, you're too late, most all the seals are gone from A.L., you'll have to go up to the Piedras Blancas Lighthouse beach (2 mi. N) to see any seals.
So right now it's not an issue at all.
And if you could get there closer to 3:30 pm instead of 5, there will be a better opportunity for pics and interviews of kiters and sailors.

If it's one of those nukey days, you'll have to go to Pico Creek, about 5 mi. south of A.L., that's where everyone will be,,,,,,,,, no seals there either, this time of year.
