Idaho Lawmaker Is Censured for Doxxing Intern Who Reported Rape
Quote: | An Idaho lawmaker who shared the personal information of a 19-year-old student intern online after the teenager accused another lawmaker of rape was formally censured by the Idaho House of Representatives on Monday.
The representative, Priscilla Giddings, a Republican from White Bird, Idaho, was stripped of a committee assignment because she had shared an article that included the intern’s personal details on Facebook and in a newsletter with her supporters.
Ms. Giddings, who is seeking the Republican nomination for lieutenant governor, shared the information after the intern in March accused State Representative Aaron von Ehlinger of sexual assault.
Mr. von Ehlinger, 39, who resigned in April, has denied any wrongdoing. He pleaded not guilty to rape and sexual assault charges this month and is scheduled to stand trial in April 2022. |

Maryland mayor charged with 50 counts of distributing revenge porn
Quote: | A mayor in Maryland who was arrested Monday and charged with 50 counts of distributing revenge porn is accused of posting nude photos without the victim’s consent to the online forum Reddit, prosecutors said.
Andrew Bradshaw, 32, the mayor of Cambridge, in Dorchester County about 60 miles southeast of Annapolis, is accused of creating multiple accounts on Reddit and posting nude photographs captioned with racial slurs and sexually explicit language, State Prosecutor Charlton T. Howard III said in a statement. The images of the woman, referred to as VICTIM-1 in the criminal complaint, were distributed without her consent, he said.
“VICTIM-1 advised that she transmitted the posted photographs only to one other person, Andrew Bradshaw, that the photographs were sent when she and Bradshaw were in an intimate relationship, and that she not provide Bradshaw with consent to re-distribute the photographs,” said the complaint, filed in Dorchester County circuit court.
Bradshaw was arrested Monday and made an initial appearance in court, where he was released on his own recognizance, Howard said. Bradshaw has to abide by court-imposed restrictions, Howard said, one of which is that he not contact the victim.
“Using someone’s private images without their consent is a serious breach of trust and invasion of privacy, and the power and breadth of the internet makes such a violation even more egregious,” Howard said in the statement. “Our office is committed to protecting victims from those who abuse their positions of power and trust.”
In a statement Tuesday, Bradshaw's attorney, Michael Belsky, said: "The allegations against Mayor Bradshaw involve private matters that are unfortunately playing themselves out in a public forum. Nothing about the allegations in any way affect Mayor Bradshaw’s desire and intent to continue to lead all the citizens of Cambridge."
Maryland’s revenge porn law prohibits the nonconsensual distribution of a private visual representation of another person that exposes the person's intimate body or displays the person engaged in sexual activity with the intent to harm, harass, intimidate, threaten or coerce the person, the statement read.
Bradshaw posted on subreddit forums on Reddit that were related to sexual activity, humiliation, degradation, race and other topics, prosecutors said. The criminal complaint said each subreddit has its own page, where users can share content by publishing stories, links and posts. |

Man, you guys are sure quiet since the jury declared that defending one's self against filmed, credible, attempted murder, as corroborated by the prosecution's own witness, is LEGAL. |

I have to admit that I avoided participating in the daily Kyle Rittenhouse trial drama. Yet, today I finally read a couple articles in the Washington Post about what happened.
The whole thing was beyond unreal. especially with Rittenhouse going scot free in the end. I guess Wisconsin is a different world.
One wonders what life will bring to Rittenhouse, a man now known for what he did, and quite possibly haunted by it the rest of his life. Many feel that justice wasn't served in the trial, and it's my thought, that can't abode well for Rittenhouse in the long run. |

I suspect from his emotions before, during and after the verdict that he indeed will be haunted for the rest of his life (despite people telling him he was in the right). He took his video game ambitions to the real world and unfortunately it didn't work out well for at least four individuals.
My fear is that it sets a bad precedent for anyone wishing to open carry into situations that they have not really thought through the various potential outcomes!
A 17 year olds life has been changed forever by a simple lack of judgement!!!

The Supreme Court decisions broadening the right to carry a gun, despite the clear construction of the second amendment, is a huge mistake. This is what it actually says:
Quote: | A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed |
The clear construction of the language is that the right to bear arms is in order to implement the well regulated militia. That was the understanding, through Republican appointees, until a radical interpretation was added by the far right.
I have no trouble with the idea of the right to keep and bear arms being extended to protect yourself and your family in your home. That is consistent with many decades of court decisions. But the right to go out hunting as a vigilante, or protect yourself at a gas station, is a different matter. Those who distrust government--on both the left and the right--have gone all in on the idea of privatizing everything. Schools, roads, and now law enforcement. So we have two shootings in Oakland in the last month--both colorable self defense. But in the process, innocent bystanders will get hurt or killed. John Wayne wasn't brave enough to actually go to war. But somehow he convinced a lot of fools that the wild west was better. |

RNC Paying Donald Trump's Legal Bills Reveals GOP Remains Hitched to Former President
Quote: | The Republican National Committee (RNC) is paying for some of President Donald Trump's personal legal bills in a clear indication that the party remains tied to their 2020 presidential candidate.
In October, the RNC made two payments totaling $121,670 to the law firm of attorney Ronald Fischetti, who was hired by Trump in April amid investigations into the former president's business dealings in New York.
Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance and New York Attorney General Letitia James, who are both Democrats, have been investigating the Trump Organization and are probing some of the company's property valuations. |

Fox News mogul mocked in HBO’s hit 'Succession'
Quote: | Over the years, Fox News has played one of the largest roles in politics, with ring-wing billionaire Rupert Murdoch at the helm of the company. Murdoch is also part of the inspiration behind the hit HBO show “Succession,” which depicts an aging billionaire who owns a powerful right-wing cable channel and whose children jockey to take over the company. In her Beat debut, “Succession” star J. Smith-Cameron opens up to MSNBC’s Ari Melber about her role as “Gerri,” what fans can expect from the remainder of the latest season, and Murdoch’s influence on the show, saying “it’s sort of loosely based on Rupert Murdoch… it’s pretty clear comparisons.” |
