Today's Dawn patrol at Sherman Island combined excellent ebb tide with very good wind. The image is of Delta Dawg John Stewart, taken by me, a short distance behind him, looking South toward Mt. Diablo.

Finally, after about 3 weeks of incessant strong wind, we get a foil day at Berkeley. Maybe 8-20, at least I don't need a 4.5 and 85 liter board
SW direction needs to read 25+ for 6.0 windsurfing from docks to point near the freeway. Today was reading 11-21.
Hope we get a few lighter days before it cranks up again.

What a nice 4.5 foil day at Berkeley on Sunday. And slow buildup to gusts of 22 meant windsurfers got great wind after 4..

January to mid April: Stick. Mid April to mid June: Crissy. And now it is summer, the fog rolls in, Crissy looks like Scotland, Stick is the king of variability, and Coyote takes the front seat. Today first day in up and down winds with a 4.7 picked up when the wind looks strong but turns out to be smallish, and makes me slog a bit too much on the way back.

Missing TI from that list. It can be so good in July, but the traffic is just back where it was: impassable! Shocked Shocked Shocked

Not a great day for wind, gusty ( 5 to 34 mph) & WSW direction. But all wingers, seven of them showed up at the stick's Windsurfer Circle this afternoon. Signs of the Times?

One windsurfer and one windfoiler eventually came much later....

Wings are taking over Very Happy but it depends a bit on location, at Coyote it is still a majority windsurf. What is nice is that they are small and do not seem to generate all the annoyance, space and safety issues associated with kites.

Talking of which, kites seem to be disappearing. At least in the north-west Bay. A handful at Crissy, less than a handful (call it 1 to 3) at Coyote.

Damn it, I knew it was going to be epic, but I just could not get out of bed. Went to Larkspur later for a repeat of a repeat of another good afternoon on the water.

Speaking of which, there's something wrong with the Corte Madera Channel sensor, it seems.

Winged at Coyote this Wednesday on a 4.0. Mostly wingers with a couple of windsurfers. No kiters. I reflected back to my windsurfing days...kinda miss them.
