Even at Berkeley, this old geezer needs 120 steps from car to near end of pier.
Crissy sometimes double that.
Pt. ISA around 130 steps.
Larkspur 1/3rd, but final 12 steps in sharp, slippery rocks.

Despite the closure of Hunters Point Express way and the State park closes at 5PM, we're still here at the Stick sailing and have a good time. It's a much less crowded venue now; today we have five total. We're rebuilding the carpet padding at the launch and any help is appreciated.

I was at the Stick Thursday 3/24 and was informed that Iron Man Fred passed away last year. I hadn't seen him since Covid and was saddened by the news. He was my hero..sailing hard up to 81 yrs old at the Stick. I hope to sail that long. Yesterday was my 10th day this year..all windsurfing.

I miss Fred quite a lot. We never promoted our beach buddies relationship into a close friendship, but we met more than twenty years ago. Waiting for the wind we had so many chats on politics, music, East Germany, California, Italy. We were, are, both emigrants.
I was always looking forward to see Fred at the Stick, until ... he was not there any more. I got a bit suspicious last summer. I thought that maybe he could not stand the RV situation, but still it was a bit too many months without sailing at his beloved spot. And then I got the bad news a couple of months ago. He passed away quickly, of cancer, last September.
We all go, but it is still sad. After Jackie another old timer to dust and atoms.

More Crissy, after the Sail GP interlude, in a season that given the Stick "closure" will see a lot of it!
Very nice conditions yesterday, enough to be out with my 81L and 4.7. I am out a bit late, managing to rig my 4.7 on a 400 mast, then the 340 and finally the correct 370. But when out it is nice, with some swell, the usual chop, and the boats. The wind unfortunately dies early, and I am out of the water at around 5:15 when it would be time to pick up the slalom board and a 6.5.
As a side observation, I think I have said it before, it is lovely not to have Kites around any longer. They are all gone, yesterday I counted one, never seen more than three since February. Windsurfers are also on the way to extinction in the Bay, but it is so nice not to have to deal any longer with the idiotic behaviors that a kite seems to inspire in otherwise rather normal sailors
