Did you sail Holgate yesterday? How was it? I was thinking to go there, but at last moment got lazy and also wasn't sure if anybody will be there. _________________ Andrew

I did not. I sailed Trixies Saturday in fairly solid ENE. Unfortunately, my limited amount of free time did not allow me to make the trip down to LBI, but I suspect there was at least one other sailor there this weekend.

I also was on Barnegat bay, few miles north of Trixies. _________________ Andrew

|
|
Today's afternoon (Friday) looks good for SSW-SW.
Anyone thinking of oceanside sailing anywhere from LBI or IBSP?
I'm thinking Holgate (Top Of the Mast location?) , Seaside..
Alternatively, is anyone planning to go to the bay side (Little Egg or Barnegat)?
Thinking: Bayview Park, Allen road, Seaside Marina..
I'm on the way from MD to LngIsland, planning to stop on NJ coast to sail, looking for company:) |

Missed your post, but there was a small group of sailors at Trixies Friday afternoon. Took a while for the wind to ramp up, but it eventually turned South and built to solid low to mid 20's. Hope you got out somewhere.

Any plans for the weekend? Saturday looks like pretty solid NE winds, Sunday looks crazy with loads of rain (NE to E and then NE again) and Monday looks like a good NW.
Anyone going wave sailing in NJ? |

As much as I love to wave sail locally in NJ, this weekend may a bit much on the large side. This forecast site is currently calling for double overhead by Sunday but the forecast changes twice daily so who knows? http://www.swellinfo.com/surf-forecast/monmouth-new-jersey
Think I'm gonna enjoy a nice bump and jump session on the bay. |

Yea DO could be painful and expensive, early on Saturday could be fun if the wind is strong enough.
Where is the best spot around the for a NE wind? Lakes bay? Surf City? (Only two spots I've been to before) |

For Northeast to easterly winds check out Trixies Landing in Berkley Township and Laurel Blvd in Laurel Harbor on Google Earth. Both offer good exposure to easterly winds. You'll probably find a few other sailors and kiters at Trixies. Further north try Ideal Beach in Middletown (just west of Sandy hook on Raritan Bay - aka the Spy House). As the winds go north on Monday, try Brant Beach in LBI on the bay. North winds at Ideal Beach are also real fun. The wind is dead onshore but you get large rolling swells just offshore a little ways - closest thing to the Gorge in NJ. There will likely be a few sailors and kiters at Ideal Beach too. |

Delaware Bay offers pretty good sailing in E to NW winds which seems to be the range of the current forecast. Waves not as big as the ocean but larger than the inland bays. NW has a decent fetch and can bring in some formidable waves. There's metered parking at the public beach at the end of Savannah Rd. and opposite of the East of Maui store. A few spots off Cedar Ave., also. |
