Which makes it pretty obvious that the salesman knew nothing about windsurf boards. As others have said, polyester resin (and that includes gelcoat) has no business being used anywhere on a modern (epoxy) windsurf board. You're lucky you didn't melt the core. Also, polyester resin is likely to have problems adhering to your epoxy board (epoxy will bond well to polyester, but not vice-versa).

If you're looking to make a long-term repair, you should definitely consider grinding off your repair and the original repair and starting over from scratch.
