I'd worry more about quality controll during initial manufacturing.
Like masts and booms, breakage is either within the first 5 days, or it lasts longer than expected.
Beware of anything new during it's first 5 days of usage. |

All windsurfing equipment eventually fails, even the most rugged designs. Tendons can have cracks that are above or below the attachments, and thus invisible unless you bend them like crazy. Since that is the part where failure generally cannot be fixed on the water, unless you like sailing in with the broken bolt gouging your board, that is the piece that should be changed out before signs of imminent failure. (Had a board-sail separation between TI and Alcatraz due to failed universal. I got by with a little help from my friends--and a fishing boat. It would have been a long, cold swim.) |
