There was a patch of poison oak growing already between the rocks at the point. I suspect that means there will be more out there in more optimal conditions.
I am posting this primarily so non-sailing kids and friends will not ruin their experience here. Please don't write any smart ass responses. I am just trying to be helpful and save people some grief.

To boost your warning to visitors, poison oak and ivy are rampant in the Gorge area. Learn to recognize and avoid it. I've seen kids playing in and wetsuits tossed on huge rambling shrubs of it.

"Technu" is the stuff to help stop the itching. We have 3 doggies that roam our property, which has lots of Poision Oak. When I get 'exposed' this product seems to be the best....I got the name from some smoke jumpers, and they deal with that stuff all the time...

I will pack a tool in my car with which to attack it during the next big lull.

Here ya go. We can legally buy them. Just don't inhale the smoke from burning PI or PO; it will do its thing even in our lungs.

Also, watch out for these lovely creatures. Ticks have overpopulated the Gorge this year and humans are on their menu.... do NOT support the eating festival. If you feel something digging into your skin, take action right away.

OK, I have to ask - if they have overpopulated the gorge, what is the right population of ticks?

And if the local wildlife had a forum, do you think they would post a message saying: "look out, humans have overrun the gorge this year, so look out!"
