Our friend Margaret Nold chose April 6, to be her very last day. (She is with her family in Belgium where this end of life decision is legal).

She explained that "I did not want to have to live my life until I have no life any longer and become someone who I am not".

Please take time to think of Margaret and send her love in your thoughts. She is happy and we are happy for her.

That's great that her family happens to live in an enlightened country. My first thought was "but it's also legal here in the PacNW (for the time being) and many other states, so why go so far?", but adding family to the mix will help immensely. For reasons I won't go into, I can empathize with her, and hope all went well.

I was in Avon NC this spring for 3 weeks. I went at the end of the road were Margaret use to walk her dog on the beach. I left some flowers in the ocean in her memory.

That day, the wind was offshore, so I watched it float away to eternity.

Margaret,
We were all reflecting on our fond memories of you today at a waterfront park music concert. I didn't know you well yet you always were so generous with your time when I needed advice or encouragement at the Hatchery. I think of you whenever I make a good jibe on my favourite Quatro wave board and Goya Guru sail, both of which have been optimized for women because of your efforts. Also when I have a perfect run down Red Mountain. I always pick up as many people as I can going up to the hill just like you did.
