GT, welcome to the internet where self-proclaimed experts develop from reading a couple of books or clicking on a couple of Google links that are shown to them based on their browsing history and then given a forum to peddle their nonsense. I find it highly amusing when Iso’s cites 2% of the experts when it suits his opinion on one issue & then sides with 98% of the experts on another. The classic hypocrite.

I found this just in time for you. I couldn't believe the title, but it is true, there really are over 1000 links to studies in this collection from quite a few sources:

How come all your links are blocked by my anti-virus software? You are not one of those Russian bots are you?

Coachg

That's funny coach. Considering that, as far as I can tell, not a single one of these links contains even a single ad. Maybe you have some "woke" browser plug in that doesn't like >999 links from a single page (actually sounds reasonable )

But no, there are truly 1011 links to real studies of clot-shot adverse affects. If you read enough of them you might start to understand why we call them so. Not a single one of these links goes to a "conspiracy" site.

Just picked this one at random .. maybe I should stop picking on Pfizer

Nahh..check out this a-hole. Here's your stinking fact-checker

Any filter that blocks the likes of the NIH, Science Direct, etc. is not just a filter. It's a tin foil ski mask with no eye holes. No WONDER these lefties don't know what's going on in the world; they deliberately shut it out. Virtually every informed doctor in the world starts with PubMed (the NIH's peer-reviewed medical research data base) when they want to learn something newer, broader, or deeper than their med school curricula. The best doctors follow up with the Cochrane Collaboration, which weeds out the biased, holey, Big Pharma-biased*, weak, or otherwise compromised studies from PubMed, then analyzes what passes Cochrane's muster.

* Well, to the extent possible. Big Pharma writes MOST drug studies as part of their contracts with the institutions that gather the data. i.e., the medical experts who perform the studies are merely data-gathering paid bots for Big Pharma PR departments. The many books describing this process are one half fascinating, one half downright scary, and one half disgusting. The sources are mostly impeccable, such as the editors of Lancet, NEJM, etc.

That's where Cochrane steps in to shovel the muck out of the barn. It's not perfect, but it is regarded as the best muck filter in the field of medicine.

About every year or so I read the latest antivirus software reviews, and change mine when something better comes along. Every one of the many URLs I sampled from the "Lethal" list opened instantly.

I put on my tin foil ski mask only when chatting with serial killers, Adam Schiff, child porn dealers, Pelosi, terrorists, the left half of my iW killfile, etc. ... you know ... beings I wouldn't trust to pick up the dog crap and pine cones from my yard.

I know Coach, there is a lot of hypocrisy about nowadays. It seems to have grown with the rise of the internet. Indeed, a little knowledge is a dangerous thing, especially when an agenda is involved.

There was no internet during the majority of my teaching years. Pupils had to think for themselves, while books were a prime source of learning. Books give the reader time to pause and think, and wonder about the explanation given. That doesn't seem to be the case with the internet. It's I say so, take it or leave it.

To go off track a bit, I'm still interested in steam engines (grew up with them) and there are new books now published which go into detail about different classes, and their design and performance, including shortcomings and successes.

Since last October I've bought four large new volumes, beautifully bound and with thick high quality gleaming white pages with masses of high quality photographs to back up the explanations. They are a joy to just hold, siyt back, and read.

I realise this has nothing to do with this thread, and will seem stupid, but to me it is a reminder of things which can make a difference to our quality of life, which can't be had from the internet. It makes me wonder why we should bother with fools on here, and their problems? None of it will change any truth!

GT

Off topic comments. But, not really...It seems anyone can say anything on the internet and develop an audience.

I, too, wonder why I get involved in internet conversations. I hang out with a lot of younger folks. They don't seem to put as much stock in the opinions expressed on the internet. They seem, better, to understand the extent of the garbage here. I wonder if that is because us older folks can be fooled into reading some of the worthless information out there because we were trained with a respect for written works. It took something to publish a book or even an article in a trade journal.

I remember my first technical article for an engineering science publication. Not a national one...more of a university publication. Before this document went to print, it took months of review...in house and outsourced peer review. Now, I could write a "research" paper and self publish it on line for all to see...and quote...provided it fit a reader's agenda.

BTW, historic mining operations is an interest of mine. I have versions of the same types of books you describe dedicated to that subject. Those books are treasures.

That said. The internet is a great place to read DIY information on home improvements and bike maintenance. So, there is some use.

This was pretty cool, as it sure seems that we are in one:

https://app.us.lifeology.io/viewer/lifeology/scicomm/what-is-an-infodemic-and-how-can-we-prevent-it

Not going to say priceless, since at the end of the slideshow they quote the CDC as one of the reliable sources of information. But, historically, this has been true, and they are still providing the VAERS data portal from which I quote statistics. So to completely diss the CDC would be hypocrisy for me.

One thing's for sure, as medical fact-checkers go, they (Cochrane) must surely seem as a better option than anything owned by Pfizer, the most corrupt pharmaceutical in history, if measured by fines/settlements.

mlaronde,

I have to say that I'm surprised that you posted the lifeology link. Can't say that I know anything about Cochrane, but link's message was above board in its focus and intent. Not at all like much of the off-the-wall stuff you post here.

GT, you are a joy to listen to. I build, troubleshoot & repair my own computers, I have a smart phone, smart cars, tablet, a watch that tracks my heartbeat, breathing & how long I sleep, and God know how many other high-tech stuff. But I still like reading a good, old-fashioned books. Every town my wife & I go to we seek out small book stores.

Don’t get too down on the internet. There is good & bad in just about everything. Yes, it is a platform for hypocrites, con artists & self-proclaimed experts. However, it is an excellent platform for finding, buying or selling items or researching travel to other countries. It is very difficult for books to keep up to date with changes in other countries. Also, as CB stated the internet is great for DIY.

Maybe, but the CDC, like Big Pharma but hopefully to a far lesser degree, infuses politics, cash, and a hunger for power into their conclusions and advice. So far, we can only hope, the VAERS data are not being corrupted. I, and increasingly more of the media, are beginning to subtly, then blatantly, and/or arguably accurately equate Fauci with Ancel Keys, whose personal bluster, fabricated claims and wildly distorted data about nutritional science, and very aggressive censorship of disagreement have been blamed for decades of global health problems including millions of unnecessary deaths. What are masks, vaccinations, fear, and unjustified mandates doing to today's kids?

Let's go, Fauci.

Ah, but at least we're not forcing people to vaccinate--so they can spread the virus.

An additional 91 COVID-19 deaths were reported in Los Angeles County on Wednesday, the second-highest daily total of the Omicron surge. One of the deaths was a 15-month-old, the youngest child to die of COVID-19.

“This is the youngest resident to die of COVID-19 since the pandemic began and a stark reminder that the virus can cause devastating outcomes among those most vulnerable, including young children not yet eligible for vaccinations,” the county said in a statement.

No details about the death were released.
