What are we to think about launching at Cabrillo in the near future?...

LA County will likely continue its stay-at-home order through the summer, officials said Tuesday, as the coronavirus wreaks havoc on the economy and patience continues to wear thin for some calling for the state to reopen and for normal life to resume.

County Public Health Director Barabara Ferrer said the order will be extended "with all certainty" at the Board of Supervisors meeting, possibly until July or August, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Cabrillo is supposedly opening up today for exercise and water activities only... no beach lounging. masks required and parking lot still closed. a group is going to test it out today and see what happens.

The "opening" of beaches in LA County is a bad joke really. Apparently keeping the parking lots closed won't do enough to keep the crowds down so the powers that unthinkingly be also close PCH for parking. State lifeguard at County Line, which is well into Ventura county, which has left its beaches open for sports and recreation, chased me away from parking on PCH. He said I had to park up on the short side streets that branch off of PCH. If this was the old days, doing so would probably get my tires slashed and/or my car broken into. Regardless, it's laughable to open the beaches but close reasonable access to water-sports folks, namely windsurfers. Our access is limited enough at the best of times.

I'm sure that the same powers-that-unthinkingly-be aren't closing the parking lots at golf courses. Trying to maintain civil composure is getting more difficult. I am nearing some real anger here. Evil or Very Mad

I may try again today. I've even considered renting a U-haul to have sails all rigged up so I can just throw them out onto the sand and go park. Anything in order to save time for an opportunity to be rousted.

Is PCH parking closed down south as well? Good luck all.

What do you do with your required mask once you want to enter the water?

You slip it into your wetsuit and then take it out again when you leave! Simple!

Very Happy

Don't be daft, leave the mask in your car and stay a minimum of 6 feet away front others on your way to the water. Oh, and it is advisable to bring your own bong to the drum circle Very Happy

I guess much is about keeping up appearances. The quality or integrity of masks is probably a secondary concern.

You have to wonder what those dedicated mask wearers think about those not wearing masks, despite keeping the 6' distancing.
