Any officially operating clubs out there carry liability insurance? We've always carried a policy, but we're being told it's no longer offered.

Try contacting the Gowrie Group. They offer insurance policies designed for onshore activities and another for on-water. https://www.gowrie.com

The last time I checked, the standard coverage carried by most yacht clubs also covers windsurfing. Burgee coverage I think it is called.

We called Gowrie and inquired about the Burgee program and were told the policy is only written for sailboats. It's possible windsurfing has gotten bundled with kites or something because it seems they no longer want to offer us a policy.

I don't think that's accurate. Several clubs in the Northeast own windsurfers and use the burgee program just as they do for club-owned 420s and keelboats. What Burgee does not cover, as far as I know, are the privately owned boats used by members whether racing in a club event or otherwise.

However, basic qualification is that the insured is a club with direct USSailing affiliation. Or that was strictly the case since the discovery of fiberglass.
