Must be pretty flat on one side of that weed patch? would launching the other side be any better?

The Lake is actually fairly flat everywhere as the weeds dampen the chop. Where the weeds are under the surface one is just skimming along. When they are on top they can get pretty thick and while you may hit them at speed and keep it up for a ways, the thicker patches can bring you to a stop.
There are multiple large patches, so no one side of the lake is better than the other. The GPS track I show is just around one patch. There is as big a patch on the other side of the cold water channel that I was sailing off the wind down on the GPS track.
The channel is fairly narrow between patches, but fun to sail down. The other area which is also more weed free is the area near and under the high power wires. My back and forth GPS tracks were taking advantage of that area.
The deeper areas are where the clear surfaces are, but there is less of that area than areas with weeds. However, if you do not fall in, sailing over the weeds just under the surface can be fun and fast. Wind with glassy water.

Thanks Windward. I am tempted to come down there for some speed runs.
Weedfin is mandatory?

If you have enough power you always could punch through with a weed fin
Saturday was not one of those days for me .
No way you could do anything without a weed fin now.
The channel by the power towers still looks relatively open.

Water Level 219 Significant weed patchs right off Tree on the North Side
Significant solid patch of the Mediros side and scattered patches
through the middle thought not as bad as end of July in the middle.
Got there at noon went up to the fishermans parking place under the power lines.
Stay in the channel was the Plan.
Rigged a 4.7 which was kind of a marginal size early in the day and
almost to much at the end.
Went down hard twice due to weeds.
And the Mediros side is scary shallow within 100 yards of shore.
Later on in the day when there was plenty of power it wasn't a problem
to punch through the weeds with a weed/wave fin
David on a 4.0 and doing really well
Larry on 4.2 by the end of the Day and having no problems
David on the Mediros side and me an Larry on the North Side.
Also air quality was pretty good maybe a slight haze no worse than
Hollister.
Slick spots in pictures are weeds the last picture as at the end of the day
under the power lines from the bluff.
